AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COST!!!!!!! Took a Saturn in to have the clutch replaced COST $ 1,400.00. I drove it to South Carolina and after two weeks the same problem came back. I figured it was under warranty so I rented a dolly and towed it 500 miles back to Maryland. Nope he says it is something else wrong with the clutch and it's not covered under the warranty. Wait this is where it starts to get good, at an additional $800.00 he says he fixed the problem. Go to drive the car and it's grinding going into third and will not even shift into 5th. Take it back to him and he tells us it is a transmission problem and he doesn't work on transmissions. SO to recap we spent $2,200.00 and are left with a broke car we can not drive

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Challenger in the years I have been going there for service. The first vehicle that I took to Challenger was finally "retired" after 10 years and 200,000 miles, but I have no doubt that Jeff and his staff would have kept it going for much longer had I decided to keep the vehicle. I feel completely confident with the services that Challenger provides and I love that I can get a loaner car so that I don't have to arrange rides to and from the shop. The waiting area is clean and very comfortable. I always feel that Jeff and his staff appreciate my business and that I am a valued customer. In turn, I feel fortunate to have such a wonderful, competent local business where I know the owner and he knows me. I happily take my vehicle to Challenger and have no hesitation in recommending them.

Nancy, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. Lauren & I hope ya had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Wrap up and stay warm!!!!!! Jeff & Lauren/Challenger

My poor little Volvo broke down on I-97 near Challenger Auto Repair and AAA just happened to tow here...so glad they did! Jeff (the owner) was fantastic and patient on the phone with me explaining everything. Turns out - the car will cost more to repair than it's worth, so I'm not going to repair it - and Jeff still took the time with me. I will definitely be back to Challenger Auto and Truck Service!

Thank you so much Hannah for choosing us and taking the time to post this review!!!! Jeff & Lauren/Challenger

The best customer service I have experienced! I just brought in my vw for alignment but i got a whole lot of help. Very friendly, honest, knowledgeable, patient, helpful, thorough and indispensable. They work on all makes and models and take care of their customers. Price is fair. Definitely will bring my car here for all work I need.

We used to take my wife's Camero and my Camry down Mountain Road all the time for service. You know the place by the car wash. Then the firm seemed to be doing unreasonable actions and not repairing our vehicles properly IMHO. This week my car had a dead battery. Had AAA tow the car to Steven's Auto Battery Warehouse. Great great guys, diagnosed battery issues only 11 volts vice 12 and dead cell. Gave me credit on the 3 year old battery, replaced and done in an hour. But battery was not only issue, all warning lights were on and would still not start. AAA again towed my car, this time to Challenger. They found five blown fuzes and checked the whole vehicle out. Did only the necessary repairs and made sure my car was safe on the road. IMHO the prior shop has/had a dangerous mechanic or more. IMHO Challenger is the best mechanical shop in the Pasadena area.

I'm a car guy, so I'm very leery of mechanics. But my Civic needed new outer CV boots and, knowing that it would take me all of two days, and would be done on a cold driveway with snowfall, I decided to see what it would cost to have someone else do it. I'd received a recommendation from a couple friends about AJ, so I gave him a call to see what he'd charge for it.I ended up e-mailing and later calling on the phone, and he returned my e-mail promptly and courteously (which seems to be a rarity for repair shops). We talked about what the car was doing, what it needed, and not only was he much less than other shops I had called, he fit me into his busy schedule.I went down there this morning, and he had the new axles and boots done in 35 minutes, then spent another 30 going over the car to make sure everything else was in order. He even made a few adjustments and tweaks while the car was in the air. We even chatted about his impressive racing career while he worked. In short, he was definitely worth the hour drive for me to get there, and I feel very comfortable in his work. I'd definitely come back to him.
